Mommy goggles

Posted by Andrea On November - 8 - 2010

Read this statistic: 41% of parents admit to worrying about what other people think about their baby’s appearance.

Nobody wants an ugly baby. And if you say that you don’t mind, well 41% of you are lying. I remember, when I was pregnant, telling my friends at work that if my baby was ugly they didn’t have to tell me that she was pretty – there was no need to pretend. These words weren’t harsh – it’s called ‘keepin’ in real’. And that’s how I roll. Not everyone passes along good genes.

Besides that, I was (and am) of the firm belief that new moms come with ‘mommy goggles’. ‘Beer goggles’ are tinted with alcohol and mommy goggles are tinted with love. No matter what your baby looks like, a mother’s love will overwhelm a funny shaped head or skew nose. And that is the way it should be.

So if you are secretly praying away the ugly, know this: a) you do not need to feel guilty – many moms feel as you do, and b) mommy goggles come attached and will work.
