Thanks for the comment. I think that it is important for parents not to worry about the opinions of those around them and rather focus on dealing with their child. Easier said than done, I know. Most parents are just trying to do their best and sometimes children really aren't easy.

i used to believe the parents were to blame for the child having tantrums. i put it down to A-lack of interest in their child or B-(the exact opposite)the child being spoilt.
But after experiencing a few of them myself, with my little 2 yr old, i realized that
C- they happen because she cant match up her emotions with her logic. For example we have had tantrums over her(my daughter) wanting to wear her jacket in 35 degree heat and not wanting to take it of. and the one where she wants to put her toy in a packet in the supermarket but when its in the packet she cant understand why she cant hold it/see it. who knows what she had in her little mind. and my favourite one was her not being able to pick up a six pack of bottled waters - phew- pity me, that one lasted a good hour and a bit.
i have learned to ride them out. those demonic actions and screams are very trying on the nerves and i have been brought to tears. its just fustrating on both parties. unfortunately the poor on-lookers just have to turn their head the other way and let it be.
